For more than 30 years, Breakdown Services has acted as the communication network between Hollywood studios and talent representatives. That means coordinating upwards of 2,000 auditions a week—an expensive and time-consuming proposition for all involved.
Their new idea: Create a way for actors to record and upload auditions, enabling an electronic response to casting calls — a virtual “pre-read.” Actors would save gas, money and time, and be able to audition for numerous roles a day, instead of one or two. And the casting director could quickly narrow in on the 10% that might be right for the part.
Using Flex and AIR and recommending future enhancements, such as mobile phone support, Universal Mind and Breakdown Services created Eco-Cast, forecasted to make game-changing strides in the entertainment industry by enabling auditions to be uploaded and viewed from anywhere in the world.
