Flash Performance: SpatialKey on the BlackBerry PlayBook

The PlayBook is the first device I've gotten my hands on that doesn't make any compromises when it comes to Flash performance. That's not to say the device doesn't have its rough edges; there are plenty of kinks that RIM needs to work out to make the PlayBook truly competitive. But when it comes to pure horsepower, this thing screams. Flash applications in web pages can be run at full screen and perform incredibly well. This kind of performance on a mobile device is far beyond anything I expected. We tweaked the user interface of SpatialKey to make it work well with touch input, but other than an overhaul of the UI elements, the core of our SpatialKey code base is running as-is, and it performs just as well as it does on a desktop computer.
