Universal Mind Partners with Ladies that UX Dallas
Earlier this month Universal Mind partnered with Ladies that UX Dallas in celebration of their first birthday! A social gathering that created rich conversations amongst ladies in the UX profession in DFW, the event was a great success!
Ladies that UX is an international organization comprised of local chapters in over 50 geographies with a mission of being a monthly meetup that creates a welcoming, transparent community of women that work in UX to positively promote and teach one another. The Dallas chapter was founded just over a year ago, and the response from the community has been greater than anticipated.
When the first meetup was planned for November of last year, we set success at having 25-30 women attend. We were pleasantly surprised and very excited to see over 65 in attendance and quickly saw that the need for community among women in the UX profession was welcomed more than anticipated. Today, there are nearly 250 women on the roster and great engagement at monthly gatherings, made possible by Universal Mind’s commitment to the Dallas community.
The past year has been full of great events, networking, workshops, and talks from various speakers both in and outside the Dallas community. Topics have spanned a broad spectrum, including career development, the role of product in UX, and mentoring. Relationships have formed and insights have been shared that have empowered and encouraged members of the local community.
“We have been surprised and delighted to see the engagement and participation of so many across the community in Dallas,” said Marti Gold, co-organizer of the local chapter. “Universal Mind’s sponsorship has been a key element of our success.”
Planning is already underway for 2017. Lightning talks and a story mapping workshop are among the plans for January and February.
